How To Determine Number of Fans Needed In A Grow Room
Good air circulation in a confined space is often the biggest challenges faced by a marijuana grower. Bigger than germinating marijuana seeds! Air circulation is very important in producing healthy marijuana plants.
Firstly calculate your marijuana grow room volume by multiplying width x length x height.
This number is the cubic feet of your grow room. The number will give you the fan rating required to clear out hot stanky marijuana smelling air and replacing it with fresh air.
Each fan has a rating that tells you how many cubic feet of air per minute (CFM) it will move. When dealing with above average temperatures you will want your fan to exchange the marijuana grow room air 3-5 times in one minute, so for a room that is 40 cubic feet, a fan that is capable of moving 120-200 CFM (cubic feet per minute) is recommended.
If you are growing marijuana in a closet using fluorescents, one room change per five minutes (divide room size by 5) will be adequate. Locate all exhaust fans pushing air out of the grow room at the upper part of the marijuana grow room. And all fans pushing air into the grow room at the bottom. Remember hot air rises and cool air falls. Besides exhausts blowing in and out of the grow room, internal fans will be needed to effectively circulate air. For small closet marijuana grow room use discarded computer fans. These work wonderfully.
Oscillating fans are in my opinion the most efficient for circulating air in a room, but also generate great marijuana plant growth. The gentle back and forth sway created by the fan is very beneficial for the developing marijuana plants. These fans tend to keep molds down by constantly freshening stagnant air.
Best of all ome improvement centres carry a large array of various types and styles of air-moving fans, most are relatively inexpensive. Don't forget marijuana grow room air will dank. Use some form of odor control when circulating air out of a marijuana grow-op.
